Happend to stop a second today and look at my carving bench. Not quite as picturesque (sp?) as Rick's Workbench on his website, but it'll have to do....although, I'm not sure how I get anything done with all that junk sitting around. Time for some cleaning.....maybe.....

I love seeing others work areas. Can't find anything incriminating though Talking

mwilleson, I solved a clutter problem with a sheet of 3/4" b/c plywood split 11 - 1/2" x 8 feet" this produces 4, 11 -1/2x8ft strips, use 2 for shelves and 2 for risers, cut to fit a dozen clear rubbermaid plastic shoe boxes, with lids, and you will loose the clutter, i just used drywall screws and screwed through the upright into the end of the shelves,, some times skipping enough room to hold 2 boxes on one shelve.. its also plenty room for belt sanders and other electrical tools that are hard to store..

Cleaning? You must be some kind of neat freak. My motto is "The amount of space I have, is equal to the mess I make". But seriously, let me suggest a Gorilla Rack, it looks like it might fit. I got mine at Sam's Club for about $60.00. It is two shelving units 4'x4'x18", made of steel with particle shelves. You can snap them together side by side, or stack them. Very solid steel construction, similar to commercial warehouse stuff, snaps together and gives you lots of options. I beefed up the bench part with solid oak flooring. Jim |

Whoa, you should see my bench or on second thought, I'd be ashamed to show you the mess. Actually your bench looks very neat and tidy.

I just keep building new benches when I can't find the old one! Of course, replacing the tools is...well, I'm refinancing the house! Wade |

Looks pretty neat already, mwilleson! I have to keep my carving area sort of cleaned up, it's right off my livingroom, visible when coming through the front door! There's usually a line of wood chips from there to the kitchen though, always need another cup of tea! Well actually, there's ususally a line of wood chips from there all through the house! Hmmm, on second thought, none of it's too clean! Sarcastic Deborah
