Default Tiki

Need a little direction. Can anyone direct me to a book or pattern with directions to carve a Tiki. I just need to see a few detailed pictures so I know what all can be included and what shouldn't be included. I was told that they were, and may still be by some, a spiritual figure. Sort of a spiritual totem pole that often told a story. I don't want to tell a bad story and offend someone.
TIA, Bob

Bob, if you have access to some of Tangerman's books you might find some guidance there, I know a couple of his books touched on Tiki's and such.
Easter Island stone men are another type of carving that you might be interested in.
OOOPS just found this site, might be helpful as far as definitions of the various Tiki(Gods).
Wouldn't want you carving a fertility symbol when you thought it just looked cute.Smile

Wow! Just checked out the tiki site...very impressive carvings!
Down here in Florida people carve them out of dead palm trees. They look great, but no telling if the symbolism is correct or not but they're cool whatevvver they're saying!
