Default I think we have lost a lot of people

Is it my imagination or have we lost a lot of people that usually post here. I have noticed that there are not near so many posts and not near the people who usually participate here. Maybe it because of the season and everyone is really busy this week getting ready for Christmas. I hope it not because of the new board. The human race is reluctant to change and it is only normal we are intimidated with things that are new. I am exactly the same I was intimidated with this board when it first came on line. I probably dont know one tenth of what this board is capable of but I like the rest plow through and ask questions. Remember the only dumb question is the one you dont ask. So give it a try get on here and try, I guarantee no one will laugh at you if you make a mistake. If they do they will be leaving me alone.:icon7:
Colin
PS thanks guys for all the help as you can see I can now do the y thing.

Colin,

I was thinking it was the opposite...It seems like we have so many people posting that I can't keep up!!! Maybe it's all the bug fixing that Rob and I have been doing, but I can't keep up with my reading!!!

Hi Colin and all,

I think you may be right Colin, change is difficult for some folks, me included. It could be that some are just trying to work out the changes....get use to them, before posting. It is taking me a while to figure things out, but I'm having fun trying. Still , change takes time, so hopefully we'll see all the familiar faces back here eventually......I wouldn't have a clue how to go looking for them! :-)

...I must admit that it took some time to find the date/time stamp issue but I have corrected it...now if I could just have it "remember me"...

...also i wasn't quite sure what an Avatar was...I noticed that several folks have custom avatars and just wondering how I can create my own.

While this maybe inconvenient and for the short term cumbersome, the board content will keep me here...

Colin, there at the last on the old board, we started seeing several new members posting and some who had been members and lurking, posting often. You may be right on not as many on the new board.

Haven't really paid that much attention. I am getting use to the new board but haven't figured all the new bells and whisles on it nor figure out the picture posting, but will in do time.

Merry CHRISTmas and a Safe and New Year.

Rochet
down beow the reg avatars is a thing for custom avatars
you may either point to 1 on the web or use 1 from your pc
tour custom avatar may be no bigger that 60 X 60 pixels so you will need a photo resixing program

I used a pic that i had on my pc and downsized to the size allowed

I was talking with Collin yesterday about smileys in the text
I thought he was talking about smiles up in the subject line
Anyway i see that both he and you gave figured it out

Now will 1 of you 2 tell me how to do it?????????????????????????

the smilies are not like the ones on the old board where you just click on them...here you have to type in the letters i.e a : and a capital D to get a smile...I like the other better...just lazy I guess

Colin, it may be partially the new format and all of us having to adjust. But, I have noticed that the Woodcarver's List and Knotholes have also not had many postings recently. This would lead me to believe that it is the Christmas Season more than adjusting to the list. Also, many of us were racing seasonal deadlines on our carvings, relieved to get them out and taking a break from carving. I finished my last carving on Sunday and have not got back in the carving mode yet. Of course, it has something to do with the fact that I really need to clean up wood chips, clean out air filters, put away paints and tools, etc. before getting started again.

Thanks Dave
If I have to remember all those codes to add a smile
I think I will just forget about using them
I have a very bad memory and trying to remember something else
will only confuse me more

I agree with you Colin - and I agree with BobD!!!

How's that for playing both sides. I don't see some of the "old" names that I saw a lot of on the old board, but I do think we have more activity here. I am trying to be more involved instead of just reading. I had to drop some of my lurking on my favorite sports board though

I do also notice that we continue to pick up new members each day. I also see that we have quite a few guests viewing each day. Some of these may be old members that have not logged back on. I had to log back in - that may be why I lost my old post count.
