Default Thanks Tom H.

Now ya dunnit...

I read your post on wanting to do a segment cane. I read the dimensions.. and thought I wonder if I can even carve that small.

I had piece of board back there and cut myself some 1/2 x 1/2 length.. and then worked one inch at a time.

I made some critters, painted them.. then it hit me... I have to drill holes through them. I..I... I... just CANT.... whaaaaa

And guess what... I have ALL my fingers and both my thumbs still. *so proud of myself*

Heres my lil critter patch I did tonight. They were alot of fun to do, and could be very addicting..but just dont ask me to drill holes in em. LOL LOL

Marcia.

Very cute critters! nope....you can't drill holes in those cuties. If you want to do cane segments you will have to drill the hole first....so you can design around it.

Look good to me. But more importantly great to know I'm not alone in doing things the wrong way round.

Marcia, Holy Cow! those are nice. Some of us may begin to feel like the "dope pusher" given out the free bags just to get folks hooked. But isn't that what all wood carving is? And yes, I have drilled the 1/8th inch holes after I finished carving them. This is not that heard to do, since the hole is so small. Again, I really like those.

Thank you for the compliments. They were fun to do! And definetly keep the extra on until your all done carving and then cut your project off with a scrollsaw. It was so much easier to hanging on to it.

All four of them are cute as a button plus your painting is outstanding. I like the frog best, kinda looks like me all dressed up for St.Paddys day. Only thing I do on that day,I might get some green paint on me. LOL

Once again Marcia, very nice carvings! Plusssssssss the main thing too, is you have all of your fingers!

Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Forrest

Thank you Forrest.

I have to be careful on when I do my carving. With this last snow , our driveway isnt blown out yet. So if I would cut myself and need the ER I wouldnt be able to get there.

Thanks again.

Marcia.

Very nice job Marci.
Some really cute critters, you did very well!
The painting has quite nice to.
Good luck on the holes, I'm certain you will do fine.
