Default Sword hilt knife protector.

Thought I'd share this knife protector with you. I carved the sword hilt knife protector from Kingwood, and a darn hard wood it is. Looks great on the knife though and makes an interesting guard.

looks sweet but 1 q did u make that out of 2 or 1 piece(s)

another way to make a basic holder is you get a thing and thick piece of wood (1/4 inch and 1 inch) and shape a hollow in the 1/4 inch one and put a magnet in the 1 inch one(drill a hole) i use lee valley 1/4 inch diameter magnets and than put a piece of electricians tape over and hey you have a knife holder that actually holds the knife

the problem with using magnets is it magnetizes the blade, so when you sharpen you get all these little iron fuzzies that are hard to get rid of!

Well, that's about as fancy a knife protector as I've ever seen! Great job Bob!!

HI HO Silver
I have a magnetized cover and considered the potential problem before I added it. I've never experienced any problems I couldn't wipe away. I really like the results, at least so far.

If you have a problem with magnetized blades,,,,here is an easy and inexpensive solution.

This little Wiha unit works great. I agree when sharpening, the magnetized particles (fuzzies) are a nusance to remove from the blade and stone.
