Default Sweet potatoes for fun

G'day All,
after seeing recent posts about carving Yams and Sweet potatoes, I found half of a large sweet potato in the fridge and decided to give it a try. The example shown measures 5 inches high by 3½ inches wide. I used Thomps' method of inserting several bamboo skewers in the bottom of the carving to assist drying and it worked well. Sweet potato people do not age well

That's great, John. Just three weeks to dry, huh?

I have Tom Wolfe's yam carving book. Just haven't taken the time yet to carve one up.

I did a couple, a few weeks ago. Haven't had time to paint them yet. But, as you said, they do not age well, and I'm not so sure that I will do any more. I see that I will have some work to get them ready to paint....after hanging around for a couple of weeks in my garage. One is soooo ugly, he could make a freight train take a dirt road.
