Here are some photos from the Swamp Rabbit Children's Art Festival. The Piedmont Wood Carvers Club from Greenville, South Carolina had a display and gave away pencils to the children. The 97' heat kept the crowds smaller than expected. Thanks to Teresa Davis for the excellent photos. 12 members had carved pencils in advance for this project. (I donated the pencils and taught two free classes on pencil carving). We gave away 75 pencils in 5 hours, We had six carvers trying to find shade around our canopy, it was a fun day! John Moore |

We have 3 early-teens that carve with us every week. Some of the pencils were carved by two teenage Sisters. We will probably pick up a couple of more from this event and a couple of adults as well. The very best thing you can do to promote a club is "public" carving displays and demonstrations. John Moore |

John that looks like it was a really fun day and great for promoting carving to boot. I am going to have to pick up a couple of pencils and give it a try. There are a few carving demos coming up and this would be perfect I think. Have A Great Day Terry |
