Default Suspicious Elf

Hi All:
#2 in my elf series is 'Suspicious Elf', he was a fun carve and surprise no paint. lol

If you look close you can see a natural green streak viewers left side in the basswood. Yep, the main reason why I didn't paint. It added more character to the carving along with the eye direction and strong grain than I could ever do with paint.

The other reason I didn't paint was because I wanted to try Mark Gargac finishing method. I have to tell you I really like his method and will apply it often. I had just finished this elf when his 'Elf DVD' arrive. I'm now working on elf #3 and applying some of the steps Mark uses. I recommend this DVD to anyone who wants to improve their facial carving skills.

'Suspicious Elf' is 7 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches across. As always I enjoy your thoughts and comments for improvement.
Kathy

Hi Kathy
He's way to cool, I could just hear old Elvis singing Suspicious Minds.

Hi Kathy, Better and better , what a big difference from your first one. Kathy if I may , on the center of the hat right above the nose, I would round it more to blend it in with the sides. Just my 2 cents worth. Merle

Hi Mel, Merle, Burtoni, Kenny, Corey, Mark:
Hey thanks guys, and Merle thank you, for the suggestion appreciate it.
These little elfs are so much fun to carve and now with Mark Gargac DVD I'm learning a lot. Mark your elves are fantastic, I love the look you carve into your elves and make them your own.
Burtoni, at some point you'll not be able to stand it, you'll just have to carve one of these little ones.
Corey, it was enjoyable to see if I could just leave a natural finish.
Mel, your next hope to see some elves coming from you too.
Thanks Kenny, I have come a long way, but it would have been even longer if not for you and others here on WCI encouraging me along the way.
It's been and is so much fun being a carver and having such good Online friends as I have here.
Thanks again,
Kathy

Hi Ron, thank you, this is the first time I have carved eyes in this direction. I thought suspicious was a perfect title for this carving. I'm creating a series of these elf carvings and all will have certain names.
