Default Super Glaze

HI ---- I ran into a situation while coating one of my pieces with Parks Super Glaze (Ultra Gloss Epoxy). I either did not measure right when combining two parts equal or the glaze was to old. My outcome was glaze was still tacky. I already had two coats on previous. Has anyone come across this before and if so did you find a solution? I have a woodcarvers show coming up this weekend and it would sadden me not to be able to take carving with me after all of the work put into it. All helpful hints welcome. Thank you!

Old,been frozen or wrong ratio could cause that.Acetone could remove the epoxy.you could possibly scrap what you can off then start washing with the acetone and a stiff bristle brush.I recently applied some 20-25 year old sanding sealer and it cured except it didn't adhear to the wood.Tony

Sunshine,

I'm also a fly tier and we use epoxies a lot in tying. When we get a batch that turns out tacky we coat it with Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails and gives a nice hard non sticky finish. Depending on the size of your piece, that may not be a viable alternative but perhaps a coat or two of gloss spray laquer would work as well. It seems like it would be worth a shot before resorting to trying to strip off the last coat of epoxy.

Good luck

Elliott
