Default "Sumo Wood Spirit"

Titled my "Sumo Spirit" because I placed a "hair-bunn" on top of his head and it reminds me of a sumo wrestler hairline. I wanted to carve his top different from a normal spirits hair flying in the wind upwards. Added the second face with the upper face beard coming down onto the second faces forehead.

Cottonwood bark, 16" long, finished with shoe polish. Carved August 06 while camping at Sherston Shores.

Enjoy and have fun carving.

Good job, Java Dude, I like it.
If you can't be different and make people laugh, what is the point?

Neat idea having the beard serve as a hair piece. If you have the opportunity to brighten up your photo, I would love to see the facial features a little clearer. The hair bun works for me.

Bill nice carving love the sumo bun on the hair, nice change I agree it is a break from the flowing hair. Also like the way you incorperated the two faces into the piece. Really has a nice flow to it. I use shoe polish sometimes it gives it a nice effect. What shade of polish did you use on this carving. See you in a couple of weeks.

Nice carving. Its a neat idea with the hair in bun as well as flowing the beard into the second spirits hair.

Brilliant! Your good idea suggests a series - Pompadour, Tonsure, D.A., dreadlocks, mullet, afro....ah, my hairdressing history knowledge is running out....a smashing piece.
