Default stylized female

This started as a santa and now it is this stylized female. It is made of Koa, that has coloring that I can not begin to show you, but the camera tried...smile. Chatoyancy is a property that is usually attributed to certain gems, the cats eye effect or shimmer. This piece of Koa has this three dimensional cats eye quality , depending at what angle you view the wood. That bright orange shown in the photo is the transparent part. This wood has the same density as black walnut, and it is such a joy to carve, only grows in the islands of Hawaii.

I love that she started off to be a Santa. The way you described the wood makes me wish I could see her in person. Wonderful job on the open work.

Very good. Good to see the carving and hearing about the wood.
All that green vegetation looks great compared to cold and snow
Thanks for sharing,
Carl

I was wondering about the size as well. A larger version of the same, would be that much more spectacular. I like the mix of modern style art and the face - great combination.

Oh yea this is a post for furniture of some kind, I was going to do a Goody santa, and changed my mind. It is about eight inches high, and I agree, bigger would be better. I started to embed her in the middle of a bowl which I was going to do relief of bushes and leaves, but changed my mind on that one... thanks for every ones support!
