Default Strength and Beauty

My usual procedure is to come to the forum, go to new posts, and start reading. If there are a lot of new posts, I do not always make it to the carver galleries. Luckily, this morning, I made it.

I could not tell what "Strength and Beauty" was, from the thumbnail photos; but, remembered the torso carving and decided to call up the bigger view. That is a wonderful carving and if you don't always make it to the galleries, take a look at this one.

I don't know anything about ballet (did see the Nutcracker once); but this carving is beautiful. I love the contrasts of wood, the strong toes seem to be grasping in an effort to support the traditionally pointed foot and beautiful, relaxed fingers. I assume that hands and feet are important in ballet, and, if so, this carving says it all.

I usually only become enthused about birds and beasts; but.............Wow! An excellent job of design and carving by which ever of the 2woodchippers did it.

You're right Paul. Stunning work. It is nice to see the work of an artist with some imagination outside of the box....... from what we traditionally see. Variety is the spice of life. Great work. Inspiring.

Bob

Thank for pointing it out to us Paul, it's a really beautiful piece and captures just what the artist wanted it to! Deborah
