I am always on the look out for a good wood glue, I'm not talking about CA Glue but a good all purpose wood glue. What is the consensus here as to the best al around glue out there: Gorilla, Titebond, Elmers or another one Thanks

My money is with Titebond. Elmers wood glue isn't bad either. I personally do not like Gorilla.

Hey Josh, I worked in a furniture factory where we had our own dry kiln and rough end. We glued-up a lot of stock. I bought a minimum of ten 55 gallon drums of titebond glue a month. In 4 1/2 years there I never saw a problem with it. Believe it or not but Elmer's glue is very similar to some of the Titebond products and also good. Elmers > > AOK Titebond > Gorilla, ok for outdoors or just plain strength.

I'm fond of Titebond, use it a lot. Elmers, is o.k., but, not as good. One thing that I've found is, if you're ever going to make some thing that will be out of doors, Gorilla glue is NOT water proof. How ever Gorilla tape is another story....man it is TOUGH!!! Epoxy is really good, but only for indoor use. CA glue is good for quick mends. If you're gluing some thing with epoxy, you can put a drip of CA to it and a little 'kicker' to help hold it til the epoxy is set. Kicker is a spray that will make the CA set up Right Now. And if your using CA, I'd suggest that you have a bottle of remover on hand for the times when you glue your fingers to the project. And it will burn your skin. I've been making whirly gigs for years, and when I first heard of Gorilla glue, I bought some to glue the wings in to the slots on a flying duck. Made a whole bunch and gave most of them away. It wasn't long before my wife said, "hey your duck is missing part of a wing. So that's when I started to put a couple of screws in the wing blocks too. The screws held them, but the glue didn't. A good source for CA glue, the kicker and remover....(actually it's called Debonder) is TOWER HOBBIES. They also sell some really tiny tubes that fit over the nozzle of the glue bottle. These allow you to apply just a tad of glue to your project. Last edited by Dull Knife; 12-21-2010 at 02:29 PM. Reason: Needed to add some thing. |

I am a big fan of either Titebond or Titebond II. I have yet to find anything that works well long-term outside.
