Would any of you stick carvers be interested in a stick swap? I would like to try carving some diamond willow, aspen, or misquete. I could offer twisted dogwood or most anything that grows in north Alabama. al.rudd |

If we have much interest, I suggest we try it sometime after Christmas. I will be going out soon and I will look for some nice twisties if anyone is interested in those. Do ya'll prefer cane or staff length? al.rudd |

Hey Al, I have a short stick that you can make a duck out of on one side and an elephant on the other side of the handle. It is short but would make a neat stick, I have had it for 10 years and never got around to carving it. All you have to do is come and get it. GaryMc

Hey Al I might want to get in that after the first of the year will have to look around and see shat I can find I think the dogwood would be fine even if it just makes a straight stick Twisties would be excellent would probably be good if the sticks were at seast 50 inches and up to 68 inches that way one could either make a cane or a stick or a staff

I have gotten to where I like canes better in town walking our neighborhood, easier to smack a dog with if it comes after us and our little dog ...sticks are great when you are in the hills, but haven't been in the hills for awhile! (sizes for me run shorter I guess that most...I don't care for real long sticks ....canes about 36" and sticks about 52 to 55 are about right I think.)

I would be interested but the mailing cost would kill me. I did a stick for Teri this year and it cost me $45.00 to mail it from Canada to the US. I would probably guess that it would cost less from state to state but they explained that it was the length of the package that cost so much. Colin

Collin you must have sent prioroty mail I remember buying a couple from Ken Lagina who is up in Canada I did this last year before I learned about Gene and it only cost me $10 to get shipped to me by mail Of course he did not send them prioroty or insure them or anything took about 10 days to get them from Canada to Texas

i would be interested in a stick swap, but as Colin says the shipping costs would be very high and with the added security due to a recent agreement between U.S.A. and Canada i don't know what would happen if such odd shaped parcel showed up in the mail. Frank P.s to Big_wayne sometimes if one is close enough to the border they will run them over and mail from U.S.
