Statesville Winners Pict

This was such a great carvers show down in Statesville NC this past Sat.

Such a great bunch of talent carvers from the Piedmont Carvers Club that put on this show plus men and women that would answer any questions and show you anything about how they could carve. It was alot of fun to me plus I met alot of nice people!!

My 1st carvers show,I started as a Novice and my 2st show in Hickory NC this past Oct,I was told I would be a novice again seeing Id not won best of the novice,I came in 2st. At this 3rd show I told myself,Im moving myself up to Imtermediate and I got lucky winning severl ribbons and to my suprise I won best of Intermediate and at another show I will attend next month,I will be in the Open divison!

My wife was so happy for me!! Back at the motel Sat night,Honey you are going out to eat tonight!!! YEAaaaaa!! She handed me my pea-nut butter sandwich and said,Honey you can go out/side and eat!! Gosh shes so good to me,Im lucky man!!!

I will be post picts in most of our catagories of some of the winners also for your enjoyment.

congrats forrest ol buddy!!!! you deserve that and more,i've had so much still going on my posting has been nill!!! but when i saw this i had to congratulate you, your such a talented person that i'm proud others are getting to see it now. and that you are getting the recongnition you deserve as well. i know your wife has to be very proud of you as well my friend..did she go all out and put a lil honey on samich???

Awww Mike thank you my Old Ms.friend!! Im just lucky!! No!! Not out on the parking lot did I get the honey,but we stayed over night again even though we could have driven home that Sat. evening!! Hintttt Hint!!!

Congratulations Forrest! I agree wholeheartedly with the judges that put "best of class" on your mountain train.

It was so much fun to be in the company of such great carvers. Course you know me?? Told alot of jokes and while standing there a middle age couple walked up to me! Are you Tnartist05 on WCI?? UHhhhhhhhhh Do I owe yall any money?? No they laughed! We are on WCI also and not only love your carvings but I collect your stories and I always take your new ones to work with me and every one in the office loves reading them!

Woooooooo I thought Id owed yall some money as I made up a story and told them right there. It was funny meeting everyone there plus some of the carvers thier wifes sat at tables in the show room and made baskets right there. Here in the mtns making home made baskets is a well known art for ones from our area.

Christina I more than app-ish-I-ate you and your nice thoughts! Wish you had been there too plus all of yall here on board. If you love carving go to a carvers show in your area. You will leave there a better person? Well you might leave with some chips on your head! I do every time.But love it.

"Thank you very much Kathy" I got lucky again wining 20 ribbons but the main one was winning Best of Intermediate after moving myself up. Course I know how hard its going to be in the Open division but it will be good as I always have,just keep trying. Im "not" a ribbon collector but its good to know people appreicate my efforts. Thanks again Kathy for your nice congra's.

That old mtn train runs pretty good Cliff and Im glad you liked it,it also won my wife the ck they gave me! Guess I will have to save up the money for another load of coal for the train to keep running!!
