Default Spit and Whittle at the LCWC (PA) Show

Hi Gang,

Fox Chapel and Woodcarving Illustrated are joining forces with our local carving club, Lancaster County Woodcarvers, to host a spit and whittle at this year's show. The show is in Lanacaster, PA - May 30, 31. Check out the club's website here:
Show Page

We're still working on the details, but basically WCI has rented a special room where folks can come on in, sit down and take a load off, chat, carve, ask questions, and watch demonstrations.

We're lining up guest carvers and will have some basswood available for folks to play with - bring along your favorite tools and whittle away!

Local dealers will be selling books and magazines, so there's no buying pressure in the spit and whittle room - but we may pick your brains a bit while you're there!

This is a new idea for us - we're looking for ways to add real value at shows. A lot of the time, we can't sell anything because our wholesale dealers are there and we don't want to compete with them... I don't want to just stand in front of a display booth all day - not that I don't love talking with you guys... But we're hoping this lets us connect on a more personal level.

Hope to see you there!

Hey, and do not forget to bring a spittoon or two for those of us Cretans who enjoy some of the baser points of life.

Really, I have a gut feeling that this may be one of our best shows ever. The all around efforts of everyone is really making this one a class act of the highest order. Thanks all!

Thanks Jeff and Jake (two of my best Buds),
Almost fotgot to mention the "Kidz Carving Korner".
Member Mike Shull has been doing this for years at the school where he teaches. He buys a basswood plaque, draws a picture on it then he gets his school kids (starting from K) to burn a few lines on the plaque. Each kid puts his initials on the back of the plaque, when finished, it is awarded to a teacher at his school. At our show he will be doing this same thing. He has a table where Kids will be invited to burn a few lines. Each Kid is then given a raffle ticket and at the end of the day a ticket will be drawn and that Kid will win the plaque.
Do that not sound cool or what???
So when you come to the show, bring the kiddies and stop by the "Kidz Carving Korner" and ask Mike to fire up the burner.

See you there.
Andy, Keep Carving

I'll be there demonstrating my snake carvings as usual. I'm looking forward to it and anxious to see how the new venue turns out.
