Hello all, I have just joined this community for less than an hour ago and I’m interested to know who I can ask for information about the artwork that my uncle and me are proudly represented. I fully understand that this community is purposely served those who are interested in woodcraft workship, so I think this is a great place for me to get started. My uncle who love collecting crafting artwork. He does not do any of the crafting himself, but he likes to collect them. His collections include crafting on sesame weed, ivory (or some people may call it elephant tusk), and tiger’s whiskers. I would like to let you know that this kind of artwork is different from woodcraft simply because uncle’s craftwork was not done to look like anything, but the Chinese character or the pictures of well-known historic people such as the US president from G. Washington to G. Bush crafted to those things that I mentioned above. I was told that these priceless masterpieces which he collects are the rarest of the rare. . To his belief, there are no more than two pieces in this world hich are made similar to what he is currently own. Because uncle is interested in showing his collection to the public, especially in the US and the Europe, but he does not know the process so he asks me for my help. Since I know completely nothing about this, I would appreciate any suggestion that may come from any of you. PS. Please pardon my English as it is not my native language. I’m doing my best to describe whatever I find necessary. If you don’t understand anything, please feel free to let me know. Thanks! |

I would start with US customs and get directions from them. Importing Ivory is strictly controlled and possibly forbidon and I would assume Tiger whiskers would be also being many of them are on the endangered list. Not sure how they handle exabishions and shows but I am sure they would be involved with it. Possibly some of the Science museums would be intrested in helping the process along. Being that the items have a unique value along with an artistic value they might show in a similar way as some of the great artists from Europe which now show more in art and science Museums and less in art studio's. But I could be way off.
