If you're a newcomer to woodcarving may I suggest that you join an area Carving Club. By doing this you will learn the craft by hands-on training and suggestions from other, more experienced carvers. You will learn carving safety, sharpening, design and exicution. Carving Clubs are always seeking new members and you will learn the right-way to do things. Usually there is a club member that sells wood.

Lime wood/Linden wood are the European names for tilia. Tilia Amercana is Basswood.
