Default Sound Off! What's on your workbench right now???

OK Gang...let's see what you're working on!

I'll admit...for once I don't have a project underway...I've been under a triple deadline here at work, and when I go home, if I don't have Tae Kwon Do class, I just want to crash and watch the tube.

But...what I am working on as far as an article is really cool. It's for our sister magazine, Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts.

It's a puzzle box. You have to figure out the combination of sliding panels to open it.

if you've seen the movie National Treasure 2; the desk that they had to open was similar.

The author, Bruce Viney, from Great Britian, says this is an easy one because you only have to move the panels once...he has others that are very complicated.

In the photo, I have one box open, another closed, and all of the components that go together to make the box. The project is not challenging to cut, but I'm working hard to make the assembly instructions understandable.

I don't have any photos yet but I am building a boot and glove rack for the cloakroom we renovated. Each glove spike(for drying) has a carving done on it. I'm still debating on what to do for the boots - spikes or shelves only.

I'm sort of back in my shop & at my carving bench.
All dried out after the flooded basement, but slow to move back in.
On the bench is a Newport style shell in butternut.

No pictures for a while until I can find the USB cord for the camera.
I'm afraid it's somewhere in the mountain of stuff in the garage that just got yanked from the basement and dropped in the garage to avoid losing it to the water...

Not spending a lot of time in the shop, but that's what's on the bench.

BobD,

That sounds like a really exciting project. I've always been intrigued by box puzzles and boxes in general. You make it sound like fun. Perhaps that's why I'm always getting sidetracked.

Also why I have about 16 unfinished projects laying around in all stages of completion. Some just need a finish, some de-fuzzing or sanding, a couple need bases and others almost completely carved. One stick just needs holes drilled in the top and in the topper to be completed but I keep putting it off.

I'm waiting for my Proxxon pen sander to arrive and will then finish the Mohawk Totem, as well as others.

I finished carving a wizard last week and now have decided to paint the last 6 projects I've carved. When that is done I'll be carving a bunch of faces on sticks. I start with a 2" round piece of basswood and cut it into 9" sections, carve the face on that section then turn the rest on the wood lathe and put the 2 sections together with a 5/8" dowel.

OOOH I love that movie! I think Bob D you have the patience of a saint! That looks like a lot of fun.

I am making scrap jewelry at the moment. you know, never waste anything and there is beauty in everything.
Making a few hand mirrors, those are always nice. So easy too
I am also working on my Santa Entry for the contest, but with kids starting school soon, I am wondering if I will get it finished in time.
Thanx for asking Bob! I love to see what everyone is up too!

As always there are a bunch of 1"x2" pieces for little guys. I am also painting some of toms wizards and Ricks ornaments from little shavers . I have a mountain man I'm working on and I have to do a Santa for the wife before christmas. I tried to get by with doing the little guy as a santa but she said they don't count.

Hey All!

I'm kind of a newbie, but I just finished a small carving for my wife (kind of a romantic thingy).

Now I'm off working on a "ball in a cage" and a tiny R2D2 carving for my youngest son.

I'm also going to buy my very own, FIRST scrollsaw this weekend! So that's exciting!

Thanks for asking!
