Default Son's Fishing Lures

My son came to me a few weeks ago and out of the blue says "dad I'm going to carve some fishing Lures" do you have some wood I can have. I gave alot of options for some small scraps that I had.
These pictures are the results of him just taking some scrap wood and hacking away. I was very proud of his accomplishments, but even more impressesd when he took them to a small lake to test them out.

Eddy thanks for the help on finding a location to buy the necessary hardware.

Al, both of these were made out of the bass wood. They float and dive in the water just as they are expected to.

If you can't tell I'm pleased with his results and even more happy that he has found a form of carving that he enjoys.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Mark... For whatever reason I can't get the thumbnails to open up to full size photos but from just looking at the thumbnails it looks like your boy did a real nice job. The fun part is making them look nice and he's sure done that . But you know that you've really done a good job when they run and dive true!

Thumbs up Re: Son's Fishing Lures

Those are great looking lures. Nothing like making positive memories with your child that will last forever. You should take one and put it away. Give it to him on his graduation day.

Thanks for sharing and making me smile!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to view my sons carvings.

Curt,
Yo bet we go fishing together, but I don't Enjoy it much cause he catches all the fish.

Shade,
My son draws out what he wants them to look like, then cuts out the blocks on the bandsaw, then only uses a knife and ocasionally a small chisel, and a piece of sand paper. He uses acrylic paint and paints everything by hand.
He does it all on his own with no help from the old man.
I also hope the info on where to find wood on your other post came in handy.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark
