Default Something better than Scotchbrite

I know this statement will bumfuzzle many of you cause you know that I swear by Scotchbrite fillament for defuzzing carvings and other wood treatments. However, today I found something better!

I was at a bird carving workshop this weekend and one of the carvers had this new product, also made by 3M Scotchbrite, that's called Scotchbrite Roto pads. They come in different colors with each color being significantly harder and more abrasive. Let's see if I can describe them...they look like little wheels with squiggley spokes radiating out from the center. You can stack 3-4-5 of them on a mandrel and use them just like we use scotchbrite pads. No fuzz flying up in your face. AND even though they are quite a bit more expensive, they last A LONG TIME I think a package of about 20 in an assortment of colors/firmness is about $20. Foredom puts it out under their label (at least the one I saw.) Our instructor, who teaches and competes in fish and bird carving, was totally impressed with it, too. (The firmer color really skinned the wood; the softer colors defuzzed but left the texture intact.)

Now, all I have to do is find out where to buy it. Has anyone else seem it or know where we can get it?

Donna,
I am heading to Artistry in Wood in Dayton next weekend I should be able to find out there and if so I will let you know. Sounds like a great product, I agree the scotch brite works ok but wears down fast and the little pieces that fly off sometimes imbed them selfs in your skin.

Donna- You might try a automotive paint supply store. Sometimes you can find a wholesale supplier that sells to the public and they usually keep 3M products in stock.
Thanks for the tip-
Barry

What happened to the message length. Are your displays doing the same as mine. It appears the margin go way farther to the right. It's the 1st time I've seen that happen. ???

I've got the same problem but there
is a slider bar at the bottom of the screen
that you can use to see way over to the right.

I kept hitting ENTER to make sure
this wouldn't go to far to the right.

Hey Mike,

I used the slide bar, but boy is that a pain! :-/

I hope that this is not inherent in the new msg board. Hey BobD, can you answer?

That should fix it. Sometimes when you cut and paste a URL into the message, it is so long that the software just extends the screen rather than wrapping it to the next line. It is a function of the OLD message board, since we are still working on getting the new one set up. Think of the old word processing programs where you had to manually hyphenate words at the end of a sentance...that's the same technology we are working with on this exhisting board....
