here are some pictures ( now that I got the posting figured out) of some carvings that I did over the holidays. they're both out of osage orange. I finished them both with a thin rub on varnish and the lizard I polished first with another little piece.

Real nice looking ! Love Osage but I didn't think it would carve that well. Made some self bows from Osage years ago. Great carvings!, Mike

Really nice carvings and beatiful wood. I am impressed with the detail in the smaller carving that is really impressive. I also like the salamader ( I take it thats what it is). ColinThumbs Up

Nice work, the quarter really puts the size into perspective, don't think I could tackle a project that small, the detail is very good, love the wood too.

S Shamrock Really nifty carvings - do you carve it green or dry? I tried a piece and it might as well have been ironwood. It had beed air dried for several years. You got really good results - and the color is beautiful!! |

Beautiful work Shamrock. I love the knot, great design. That is small! I've heard of orange being used for ship timbers, but haven't seen any carved like this before, well done. Bob
