Default Some advice

Yesterday I finished a caricature carving of a women (smokin' hot body). All carved and painted, it just needed a clear acrylic finish to wrap up the project. Just before going into the house for supper, I grabed a spray can off the shelf, shook it good and gave her a blast right in the face.....should have checked to see it was clear acrylic before spraying...it wasn't...it was gloss black!
I only smiled, layed her on a towel, on the work bench and went into supper.

Moral: check your can content before you spray.

I often make bonehead mistakes like that so don't feel lonely. Sometimes its fun to go with the mistake and make something different. I've had my best compliments on stuff I screwed up and then made it real differnet. Of course I always act like I intended to make it like that all along.

Hi Vicki,

Welcome. Glad to see you here. You probably don't remember me, but I took a class from you guys in Coleridge, NE last Summer. I carved your Dirty Rat roughout. It was a great class. Look forward to when you go to Coleridge again.

Things turned out fairly well in the end. I used the 3M scotch bright sanding discs in my Ram micro motor and it took most of the black off....not all. Almost impossible to get down in all the cracks and crevises. I couldn't just paint over the black because I was using the linseed oil finish for the final skin color which let the grain come through.
Would post a picture of "Boobie Sue" now she is done but not sure this message board is ready for that.

Lynne, I don't think I would touch that with a 10 foot pole, I think he stirred up enough stuff by himself.
