Default soldier pattern

Has anyone ever seen a pattern of a soldier caricature? I've been searching the web and books, but haven't come across any. I may have to try and draw one myself, which isn't terrible, but I really need a point of reference (especially details for the uniform).

What era? Also, what branch - assuming it is a US soldier.

Revolutionary, Civil War, Western Cavalry, World War (I or II), etc.

Marine, Navy, Army, Air Force, etc.

For details on the uniform, you don't need to look for caricature, but for the specific era and branch.

Talking Re: soldier pattern

This may sound silly, but look at Beetle Bailey in the newspaper comics page. It may at least give you some ideas. TonyB

Thanks for all the input.

I'm looking for a soldier from any branch (was thinking of putting him or her in fatigues) sp? But, from this time period. Seems like everything I look at is from Civil or Revolutionary War. The Beetle Bailey idea was actually a really good one too!

There are some toy companies that make very realistic looking uniforms. If you can find some on the internet, there will be lots of pictures.

Like this:

Try GI Joe.....here's a site from Canada:

Or here's a picture with descriptions:

Thanks Mitch!

The carving I'm thinking about will be very basic, not very detailed. All I needed was something to go by though so the toy suggestion will probably work perfectly.

Do you need a sketched drawing or photos? I was in a naval construction batalion (seabees) and I might have something you could use.
