Default Smoothing Basswood

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted.

I had an idea the other day and I thought I would pass it on. I was carving an icecycle and when I finished carving I noticed that it was very fuzzy as basswood sometimes gets. It's very small, only 3/4" thick and 5" long, and has a lot of very small triangular openings. I wondered how I could smooth out this fuzziness in such small openings. Then this idea struck me! I got a emory board and cut just a small strip, about 1/8", off of it with a pair of scissors and used it like a file. It worked just fine and the finish has the desired smoothness.

I hope this idea can help someone.

David

I just noticed how I spelled "icicle". LOL. I just type it out and, as usual, I was in a hurry and didn't give it much thought. David

I thought it was a very cold bicycle. LOL!

I have oodles of emery boards for this very purpose. love 'em! Used to by them thru American Scientific, but lately they don't see to carry them....

So now I use "Next Tag". I just looked and I see that they have 2 sided boards, 100 per package for $3.25. This is the way I get mine.
