Patrick....what a great face! The core color is sooooo different and makes for a really interesting piece. As usual, it has the trademark "Patrick" look overall. A real nice job on this one! Bonnie

Hey Patrick, I think I've seen this fella around my area panning for gold.
All kidding aside, he has so much character and I love the perfect knots betwen the eyes. You did plan that right?
Speaking of staining if you could get your hands on some wood stains of various colors you could make them work for you. I know you can!
Waiting to see what you come up with next, always enjoy your carvings.

Patrick I too love your smiling guy, I too would leave it alone since there is enough expression to give it details, of course as always I like all carvings natural, wood is so special I call my table usual " My Love for Wood" that tells you everything.

Don't know how I missed this thread, great job, super job on the smiling face, love the nose, I can't get a nose right, and that honker is a beauty !!!!!! Carving birds we use study bills for reference, wonder if they sell study noses, grin. How about a tutorial on noses. ???
