| | Small Mountain Man Inspired by Silver&Dust's and JBCarver's mountain men, I thought I'd carve out a piece of 4x4x12 basswood randition of Mark Gargac's mountain man. A few things I would like to do differently but it was a good first try. Thanks for viewing.

| | Re: Small Mountain Man Thanks Cliff and Forrest. I would have liked to have his hat sitting lower on his head and changed the look of fright on his face. I had an artist suggest an acrylic for the whites in the eyes. From the feedback on the NA Indian, I tried to change the eyes - not sure if I got it right yet.

| | Re: Small Mountain Man I agree with Forrest. I see fear in that face, and imagined a bear in the story somewhere. Great carving, again, and I really like the feather on this one.

| | Re: Small Mountain Man You know Patrick that is a great carving I only wish I had your talent. I agree with you the suprised look is different for you. I think I prefer the wise or rugged look that I am used to with your carvings and also agree with the hat although had you not mentioned it I wouldnt have seen it. Another great carving never the less

| | Re: Small Mountain Man Thanks everyone. If he was a Native Indian, I'd name him "Running Bear" which would capture the look he has. The expression happened by accident as I rarely preplan what expression I will be carving until it happens.
