Well, my sister has pretty standard tastes. She's very straight and likes simple life, and doesn't like dragons or anything related to mythology. She likes horses, and horses, and country living, no electricity at her country house... Her children like dragons and have snakes for pets (now that they are not home anymore they can...), but she doesn't share their taste.

She said it was nicely done, but not her taste and added a pouah...

So it was not really a negative comment, just the expression of her taste.

Thanks for your comments,

I really like that kind of art, Toutankhamon and all, so I think I found the type of carving I will do next, and will indeed keep doing masks...

Oh, and that includes Wood Spirits...

Gilles

Ok, I couldn't wait to make another one, and I finished this one I started carving yesterday. I didn't know what I would do with it until I decided to start a series of masks. So here it is...

This one is 4 1/2" and was first colored with tinted BLO, then I added a bit of green and brown mixed with BLO to give it a wood spirit look.

AND THIS ONE IS MINE...

Gilles

Nice job, Gilles.....different.....I really like the mask idea and your mounting them as you have. They'll make a nice collection. You can be free to give them any expression that you feel, and that's a real sense of freedom. Nice job! Bonnie

Thanks for the support about my choice of carving. That's what I like around here, the support.

Btw, as much as my sister doesn't like the first one, as much she loves the second one and wanted it... But as I said before, she can't have it... this one is mine, mine, mine...

Gilles

Gilles,
I look forward to seeing more in this collection. So far you're off to a great start and like Bonnie said, you have unlimited freedom to carve the masks as you like. Keep up the great carving and thanks for sharing.
