Default Small mask carving

Here is a small 2" mask for my niece who has a small collection of bigger masks. This is intended to be used on a key ring.

I didn't use any template to carve it, I just went with what I felt she would like. I still need to drill a hole or add an eye screw before I give her.

I hope you like it.

Gilles

Nice job on the mask. Your niece should really like it.

Thanks...

I posted her the photo and she finally decided to put it on a desk. I told her I thought it was a bit big to wear on a key ring.

So here is how it will be used.

I need to make one more for me now...

Gilles

Great little mask, Gilles. I like the display tripod you made for it, too.

Well, I showed it to my sister too, and she didn't like the look of that face. Maybe that it's too sad for her... I don't know. But it gave me an idea.

Why not carve a few more with different looks on the face...

Not that it bothers me that she doesn't like it, the answers to my thread about that part helped me change the way I take comments about my carvings. But I reacted in a positive way. I decided to start a collection of small masks with different expressions, all on a small tripod like this one.

I would normally not carve ears on a mask, but I did it on this one as a practice. The next ones will one will not have ears depending on my feeling...

Keep on carving...

Gilles

Gilles, the little mask looks great and your idea about different expressions is good too. Can't understand why your sis didn't like it, maybe you should take the scrap chips from your next piece, glue them together and give that to her, thats probably what I'd do.
