Default Skinny Santa

This Santa was inspired by the one in the Hand Carved Holiday Gifts by Woodcarving Illustrated~~~~~ 39 projects The Santa is found on page 43.
My Santa is 7'' tall. I copied the original pattern.I cut out the Santa, then I cut that pattern at the top of boots, and glued the pieces to a white sheet of paper. So the boots were shorter. I also did other minor changes to the pattern. Now he measured aprox. 6" high. Then I did the math to see how much more percent wise to set the copier at to end up with a 7" tall Santa. Then I recopied that pattern to get the pattern I used. Some people have wanted to know how to make a pattern of there own design is the reason I explained it here. I hope I didn't loose you along the way.
I carved the hands and attached. I carved a round tenon on each hand that fit into a hole that I drilled into the arm. To avoid cracking the arm when fitting the tenon, I drilled a hole in a scrap piece of wood, that I used to get a good fit. Drill the holes in hands and arms before they are carved to fin. size to avoid cracking when drilling. Then the hands were glued into the arms.
I added the dog to the scene to add interest.
Painted with acrylic
