Default ~A Skilled Catch~

This is a old male black bear who is skilled at catching trout.

The bear is carved in bass wood, its 1 1/4 X 4 inches, The rocks and the base are carved from some scrap pine I had. The trout is carved from cedar,on smaller carved items like this trout, bass wood just doesnt hold the details with out breaking off.

Its painted with acrylics!

It was fun for me to carve this and add a base to it. Your thoughts or comments are more than welcome. Thks' Forrest

That is a terrific scene. Lots of interest and action. My only suggestion would be to mount it on a real nice base to seperate it from what it's setting on.

Forrest, I now have a new favorite! That is just a cool little scene and no need to explain what is going on there. Really neat scene fillers and all. Great carving and painting Forrest!

Phenomenal! That's one of the best and favorite scenes I have ever seen you do! You did a GREAT job in rounding that bear, Forrest, and for a carving in that dimension, you have a LOT of detail....you are a master at folk art, but even in that style.....your painting brings a sense of realism I can't describe....even to the water lapping at the rocks. If it wasn't for the big ol' bear, I'd want to dip my toes in the water, it looks so real! Great job on the whole thing, my friend......bear, boulders, fishy and stream! Bonnie
