| | Re: simple project for 10 yr. old You might have her try a few Celtic knots. They are simple and look great when done. Hundreds of designs around. Rough them out on a scroll saw and drill out the inside scrap, then the rest is rounding and over and under joints.

| | Re: simple project for 10 yr. old All the kids in the Hood used to come to my shop when they were young, I would set them up with a fish decoy blank and a rasp so I didn't have to worry about them cutting themselves. Once they learned to control the rasp I let the older kids try using the knife. The look on their parents faces when the brought home their finished fish was priceless. And the kids had something that was easy yet they could be very proud of it. |

| | Re: simple project for 10 yr. old A cute project also is on Matt Kelly's link http://carverscompanion.com they have the carpenter pencils carved as a tree or more little neat things to try from a carving contest. Very cute and something that they won't get bored making. I have a 14 year old gson who has been carving and I also try to find fun easy projects to keep him interested. Good luck in whatever she carves. Would love to see some pics too!
