Default Simple Jig for Ornament Blanks

Here is a simple jig for cutting ornament blanks. I cut a grove in a 2 x 4 on my table saw and then clamped it to my band saw. It makes cutting blanks effortless. I can cut up to 4 x 4 stock on it.

good tip.
I have on of those- shift it left or right a little and you can cut octagons (if you really want to) You can also drill or cut rounds on there.

I use one similar to that, also, but use it a little differently. I split from both ends, leaving about 1/2" in the middle, and then carve 4 ornaments, 2 back to back on each end. I finish splitting them after carving. This way gives me something to hold on to as I am carving each one. When doing this, I get 4 ornaments out of a 1x1x6.

That's a great idea. I usually just cut the blank a little longer and cut it off. Wastes a little wood but a lot safer. Your way is better. Thanks.

I did it the same way Bob, but with the small cut off I made one of Gary MacDaniels little geenman.
