Default A simple carving stand

I've had several inquiries about the carving stand I use that I posted in the 'workshop' album on picture trails. Its a really sturdy stand that anyone can throw together. Its inexpensive and takes up very little room.
I posted some close up pictures of it with brief instructions on my picture trail site in the 'carving stand' album if anyone else is interested.

Thanks Greg for posting your carving stand. By the photos and descriptions should be fairly easy to build, unless you have it copyrighted!

No, LOL there is no copyright

I have a 'traveling' version of it that I use to demonstrate when I'm at an art fair...I let other carvers photograph it or sketch it.
I can always tell if they are carvers or not before they even say anything.....they are looking at the stand more than what I'm working on!

Very interesting design Greg...I am liking it very much! I am getting my work area set up and I think it might just find a place there...still have to clear out some stuff but I am making progress!

Thanks Greg,
I needed to build a carving stand and yours is just what I am looking for. I like you dont have a lot of room in my shop so that looks like it would be great. Again thanks for sharing your idea.

I forgot to mention, if you use your own carving arm (other than the John Burke one) I still highly reccommend getting the tapered carving screw he sells....its the best one I've ever used imho.

I must admit your carving stand is a unique design and simple..and what I like is that it could be portable.. Always looking for some new gadget to make things easier to carve..
