| | Silver Dollar City Seminar Wow! What a week of carving it has been. Diana and I arrived back home this afternoon. Attendance was down a little bit this year (maybe the cost of travel is beginning to have an affect). But there were still over 300 of us there, in about 36 classes. Things were somewhat hectic for the first and last days. Silver Dollar City was installing some new rides and preparing for their season’s opening next weekend. This meant that we had to ride buses from a remote parking lot to the two buildings where we were carving. Next year we have been promised a building in Celebration City (another facility owned by Silver Dollar City) with even more room and sufficient parking adjacent to the carving area. We had one day of rain (much needed in this area) and beautiful weather for the rest of the week In compliance with the admonitions I received when I announced that I was headed to this seminar, I am attaching some photos. |

| | Re: Silver Dollar City Seminar Here my friends are some more photos from the SDC/Ozark Mountain Woodcarvers Seminar. I thought I would throw in a new John Engler relief carving for those former USAF people.
And, of course, it would not be proper to show photos without including the grandfather of carvers Harold Enlow.
Anyway, it was great fun and I am looking forward to next year. |

| | Re: Silver Dollar City Seminar Yep, that was one of the carvings offered in Harley Schmitgen's class at this year's seminar. He came up with several new pieces; but, I failed to get pictures of them....too, busy on my own carvings. Midge Schmitgen is coming up with some really interesting wildlife roughouts in the same style as Harley's human-type figures. I have one of the mountain men that I carved in a Schmitgen class in my gallery. |
