Smile Short fat bear (finished)

Here's my little bear all finished. Excuse the picture quality because I used my Blackberry instead of my good Canon DSLR. I adjusted the brightness and contrast using GIMP so the pics look a bit better.

All comments welcome.

Thanks Simon. He's 4.5" (115mm)H x 2" (51mm)W x 1.5" (39mm)D. I carved him from a solid basswood block with only two altered Swiss Army Knives, a Stanley locking folder pocket utility knife and a Warren 4.5mm vtool. I started out following Gene Webb's Smoky Mountain black bear with a pocket knife, but I went just a tad astray. He almost ended up wearing a pair of overalls with a bandanna hanging out his back pocket. I may still do one like that.

I had a lot of fun carving him. It's a blast carving away and seeing the object appear little by little.

Ed

Thanks guys, I appreciate the encouraging commentary. I brush painted him with acrylic airbrush paint. The other acrylic paints I have don't seem to be be all that good. The black turned gray when I added a bit of water. I thought about getting an airbrush out, but the brush was handy.

I had thought of burning, but didn't want to risk ruining the little guy.

Thanks for telling us that "He's 4.5" tall, as I was wondering what sex he was.
