Default Shaving Horse

I am thinking about building a shaving horse to use carving decoys, and some as large as swans. I would like to get opinions/comments on the use of a shaving horse. It would be helpful to share plans if available. Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Michael

Here is a /shaving "pony" I asked about and built a couple of years ago:

Shaving pony plans/drawings?

Go down to response #10 to see the finished work.
Still using it today. Never built Version 2.0.
It turns out that this one worked just fine for what I needed.
For more ideas and plans just do a search of the Message board "search" function
Good Luck!

The bench I would like is for carving ducks, geese, and swans. The bench should be sturdy enough for using both a hatchet & draw knife.

I'm with EZ Ed, I'm looking for a horse shaving. Might have to try that one.

Thank you to all who have responded to this message.
I have found a shaving horse that should work for me in another carving publication. The one I will build will disassemble for storage and take less room in my already over crowded shop.
I guess the term shaving horse could have been confused with all of the caricture style carvings people come up with, this may be a great idea for a series of carvings.
Have a great day!

Michael

If the one you found is the one in Wildfowl Carving & Collecting by Bill Kennedy it is probably the best. If it isn't take a look at that one. Bill Kennedy is one of the top Contemporary Antique carvers in the U.S. Happy Trails
