Default sharpening service

Every carving knife that I bought so far was pre sharpened so I never really learned how to sharpen but just how to keep it sharp, but I have a knife that my neighbor gave to me. It was very dull, I watched Dave Brocks video on sharpening and tried it and now the knife is almost sharp. It cuts wood but not easily, I can't make stop cuts with it because it s not sharpen enough. So my real question is does anyone know of someone I can send it to?

Hi Alex,

You can try Rick at Little Shavers. He's in Seattle.

How far from Baltimore are you? Could be a road trip and lessons involved.

When my tools need first aid beyond my capabilities, I either send them to Rick Ferry at Little Shavers in Seattle, or Dick Belcher of Belcher Carving out of Tipp City, Ohio. Do a Google search for their addresses. Both are extremely reasonable, give fast turn-around, and do a good job on every possible shaped carving tool.

Thanks Donna, I may consider Dick Belcher since he is closer. Rick Ferry is on the other side of the country.

Or you can watch Arleen's (carverswoodshop) videos on sharpening, they are very good. She has one where she uses a cordless drill with a sanding disc, it works great. They are on Youtube.

Where are you in PA? I am in Greensburg, and could show you how to get it sharp.
