That's a great looking snake stick. We don't see snakes that big on the east coast...they would either freeze in the winter or drown from all the rain we seem to be getting lately.

Very nicely done. I never heard of a jarretiere snake. I'm going to have to look that one up. Is that quaking aspen or bigtooth aspen? I misunderstood you on the other thread. I thought you were asking how to post a picture.

I am not sure of the type of Aspen....The only thing I know it is very common up here.
I love carving it very light in weight and also in color.....so it is easy to stain...

It's probably quaking aspen which is the more common of the two. Bigtooth aspen does occur in southern Quebec. Both species have a saw-tooth edge to the leaves and the difference is obvious in the name. Bigtooth has larger points and greater space between them.

Neat job you did carving the snake. In the old sunny south like Ms and Memphis Tn, when I was a boy,Id throw rocks at them, then jump in the water,Id always heard, they wont bite in the water,BUDDY dont belive it they will! Dont have cotton mouth's up here in East Tn,the water in steams or lakes are too cold for them! Once again, you did a nice job on this walking stick. Forrest
