Default "Serious" Wood Carver?

Recently while talking about a few carvers, someone stated that "He's a serious wood carver". What's the difference between a "serious" carver and "other carvers"?
Some of us might be serious carvers, and not even know it.

Hi Tom. Kind of funny but a good question. Made me smile thinking about it. I guess different interpretations can be made. Serious, does that mean they are "addicted" to carving and spend alot of time dong it? That would probably be most of us. lol Safe carving. Paul

I had to chuckle when I told a co-worker that I spent the winter lay-off carving most of everyday and his comment was "Oh, you are serious about this carving stuff".

Paul, Google up the word "addiction" and read, for a real smile. One could have some fun with the difinitions of the word "addiction" when applied to wood carving...

Maybe we need to come up with another word LOL!..
Serious?

A serious word carver has more carving tools than he or she needs and not as many as they want. And their patners are all says complaining about the wood chips on the carpet.

A serious carver has a refrigerator close by to keep the beer really, really cold.
Cold beer is almost as important as a quality sharpening stone and a really sharp chisel....

Serious? Addicted? I prefer chip-happy.

Serious carver? Seriously? How can we be so serious when we are having this much fun! Carving is why they call me Happy Hal the least serious of all.

Tom,

Good question. Here is my definition of serious. I am a serious wood carver, especially when one turns out and everybody likes it. I am a non-serious wood carver when it doesn't work out and nobody likes it. then I simply become a hobbyist. LOL Can't wait to see this one answered.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

I must be a serious woodcarver. I rarely laugh if I cut myself.
