Default Seller's Remorse

Hey Everyone,
Any of you folks ever have seller's remorse?
At the time, you assign a fair price for your work and someone buys it; of course it's gratifying that someone else appreciates your work enough to pay for it.
But then the day comes when you ship it out, and on your way home it hits you, "Oh NOOOOOO......What have I DONE?!!!".
I just sold a Sandhill Crane flute....and I miss it.
I was content with the carving and painting, but what I didn't realize at some point in the process, I'd fallen in love with its voice. I bought the wood at an estate sale and I never knew what kind it was; so I'm posting some pics to see if any of you can help me identify the wood. It had a tonal quality unlike any other... *sobs*.
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg, do you have a close-up of the wood. It is a beautiful job on your carving. If you have the holes just right, I think any wood will sound good. Do you know if it was cedar or not?
Try some Sitka Spruce if you can get your hands on some. It is amazing.

I guess that remorse is why I hate to sell any carvings.

Nice work, Tom

Thanks Tom.
I'll try to find another pic of the wood on the flute.
I haven't made a flute from Sitka spruce just yet, but I'm intrigued enough to try some.
Take care,
Greg

I still remember (and regret) selling some carvings from 20 years ago. I've done several pieces in Eastern Red Cedar that I would love to buy back today.

Some things are just special! As the old saying goes: "you don't realize what you had until it's gone."

I'm still looking for another piece of that "special" cedar.

Beautiful flute. I empathize with you. I can't bring myself to sell any of my carving. Occasionally, I will make a knife or two and gift them to friends.

Hi Greg. That is a beautiful flute. The new owner will surely enjoy your talents, be happy about that. Paul

Charlie Russell said it best: "I raised my children to leave home!" While I love to look at my work I love it even more when I know it's leaving the gallery to be enjoyed by others.

I too regret some of the carvings I have let go. My wife is worse than I am. She wants to keep all the Santa’s and wind spirits I do.

If I didn't manage to sell some off occasionally I wouldn't have room to move about the house. I have three pieces in an exhibition/competition at present...room for three more carving in the house now Joe.
