Default Scroll Saw

I was looking at a 16" scroll saw from Lowe's will this be good enough for cutting blanks about 1"-2" wide?

I have a 16" Ryobi and use it a lot for blanking out small pieces. Actually it gets as much use as the band saw on 1" to 1.5" blocks.

Alex, I bought the 100dollar one from lowes (Skill) And it cuts 2 inch blocks like butter. I was very impressed with how it cuts fort he price. Just buy some really good blades and your golden. I was going to buy a craftsman for alot more money but decided to try the cheapo route first. Heck I am glad I did.

When you buy the blades, also include some with very fine teeth. Then you can do projects with thin ply wood and by spinning the wood as you cut, the shapes you can make that way, are 'far out'. You'll have a blast, as I have had over the years with my Delta scroller.

Alex,
Check out www.mikesworkshop.com for SS blades. Mike is a great guy and sells very good blades (Flying Dutchman) at very good prices. If his website does not have the info you need for selecting the right blade contact him and he'll help you out.

Sean, that's the exact one I'm looking at buying. Hopefully tomorrow's the day.

Have a look a Craigslist before you buy new. There are some great deals to be had on some really good saws.

Good luck,
Dan
