| | Santa bark carving Hello,
I've done a few Santa cottonwood bark carvings and I would like to do some more. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good book or video that shows (step by step) how to carve a Santa (not just a woodspirit) in bark?
Thanks,

| | Re: Santa bark carving Rick Jensen's book "Carving Tree Bark" has a few Santas in it, but he doesnt show a step by step of it. "Carving Found Wood" by Vic Hood and Jack Williams has a step by step for a mountain man which could very easily be made into a Santa. |

I see by your Picrure trail album you have a lot of unfinished carvings. Just like my bench . You are doing very good for only 3 years of carving . Keep up the good work. I see you have a picture of yourself in the album. Mind if I add it tothe WCI album I am working on?

I'm actually already in your album. I think it's the tenth picture from the bottom. It is of me and my wife and our two children. We're sitting on our fireplace at Christmas time. But if you want a different picture you sure can use it.

I just looked through your picture trail again. Yes, your doing very nice work and quite a bit of it!!!
Keep it up.
Wish you could join our club here in SF, but I understand it is a ways for you to travel. Keep us in mind for the fair again as well as the Christmas show. |

| | Re: Santa bark carving Thanks John,
Sorry about that. I do remember your picture. My memory is the second thing I have lost. Can't remember what the first was!
What is important is I can still carve. Actually I am not that old. Just sounds like it huh? I have only done one Santa on bark and it came out pretty fair. It was the only time I ever painted a bark carving.

That is a great Santa bark carving. If I could do one half that good I'd be happy.
