| | Sanding Has anyone tried the 3M Scotch-brite Radial Bristle Discs? I was hoping to get some feed back on the effectiveness of the abrasive discs in relation to other sanding methods and relative cost effectiveness. See foredom.com to view this item. |

| | Re: Sanding Frank Russell also raves about them. He uses the more aggressive ones for carving and the finer grits for refining and de-fuzzing. I've tried them too, but don't have a lot of experience with them.

| | Re: Sanding As Kenny said, while I'm certainly no authority on them, I think they're great. They really remove the fuzz after using a stoning wheel. I previously used a propane torch and wire brush to get rid of the fuzz but these little wheels do the trick much better. |

| | Re: Sanding Sounds like a positive response i.e. they work. Will order a set. Looks like they would be a real advantage in cleaning out tight places that regular sanding units just can't access. In the past, I've used an emory board for cracks and crevises.
Thanks all! |

| | Re: Sanding I received mine this past week and they really work. I had a couple of carvings that had a considerable amount of fuzz and they cleaned up real slick with little effort.

| | Re: Sanding OK here's my take on them. I bought two different grits to try them out and they do do a good job. I have used them quite a bit and have been comparing them to the Scotchbrite sanding pads that I have used for years. I believe I prefer the pads that I cut myself so far. That being said, it does appear that the radial discs are going to last quite a while. I would have to say that as far as I am concerned I'll dance with who brung me for now but I am reserving judgement for a while. For me, the jury is still out. |

| | Re: Sanding Just received mine in the mail yesterday, for 5 packs of various grits, six to a pack I paid $30.00, kind of pricey! I hav'nt had a chance to try them yet, but if they work faster and better then sanding by hand, then it's money well spent!, sanding by hand really tears your finger tips up. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
