| | Re: What's everyone working on? Wowie, right after my last post on this thread I went and carved my ever first ball-in-a-cage! I was sure I'd have to wait awhile before I tried one of those. I feel pretty accomplished.

| | Re: What's everyone working on? I've spent the day, between honey do's, playing with a couple new tools, both of which exceeded my expectations. A small round skew for my wood burner and a 1/2" #3 Ramelson palm tool. I had a couple regular skew's, a large and a small, but really like this rounded one. As for the palm tool, it's great. Nice and solid through the cut with no wobble or flex. Holds the cut nicely, and has the usual Ramelson good quality steel. I like it well enough to maybe retire my 1/2" #3 Denny. Still have them both in the box, but the Denny is kind of teetering on the edge. |

| | Re: What's everyone working on? Hey Plain_Old_Ed, what would be your reasons for thinking about retiring the Denny tool in favour of the Ramelson, handle shape or ????
Just wondering .

| | Re: What's everyone working on? No, I love the Denny handles. I've got 7 or 8 different Denny tools and absolutely love all of them except the 1/2" #3 (which I do like, but not love). If your familitar with the Denny's you know how the shank is wide and thin. On the tools with quicker sweeps and the narrower #3, it's not a problem, in fact, I think it's actually an asset. On the wider #3, which I use for hogging out, it tends to flex just a wee bit on heavy cuts (gives me an uneasy feeling) which the Ramelson does not. It's never slipped, bent or broken but still gives me that "unsolid" feeling. |

They are actually good looking knives. I made them for a retired police chief.
The handles are Leopard wood; the blades are Vintage Sheffield straight razors.
