Default rustic look for log home

Anybody who might give me some advice on the following. I am looking to rough up flat sided 12' logs, white pine, to give them a rustic, hewn look. I am considering a saw tooth combination blade. Any suggestions for the pattern, blade type, supplier of these blades? Thanks, Joe jnjs@chilitech.net

Joe, I think I'd go at those beams with an adz and an axe. You would probably get a more authentic look with less work that way. You could even use a draw knife along the corners.

A friend of mine builds furniture up in Maine and he uses an old broken chain saw blade to rough up table before finishing. He does it in a way that you really wouldn't recognize the mark. I would experiment a bit with different techniques until you find a mark you like. I think he rubbs pine tar into the marks to darken them.
