Default How to ruin a wonderful web page.

I feel that this message board is being used as E-MAIL board. I thought it was going to be an message board for people that wanted to know about woodcarving? Not about peoples health. Please folks, lets get back to woodcarving subjects . If your lonely and just want to talk about other things ,get the e-mail address of who you want to talk with and PLEASE CHANGE CHANNELS. Health problums not wanted on this page. You people are going to ruin it. muffy

hmmmmmmm............ :P ??? I was on line answering stuff when the above message was posted. I agree with it but I didn't write it.
Every message board contains threads not all of us want to see. Nobody is required to read anything. Muffy, can't we just ignore something we object to?
Now, I'm going off and regret writing this :-/ :-[

Muffy, this is just my opinion but I enjoy the friendly (and caring) conversations that go on here. I certainly have learned far more about woodcarving, techniques, sharpening, you name it, in the past two years than I ever would have without these people and I do care about them. Perhaps this is as much a 'friendship board' as a bulletin board. I for one really like it that way. Callynne

You know it is easy to be flippant about someones else very real problems...I guess I have to wonder how it would be if the shoe were on the other foot....a little patience, a little courtesy, and a little compassion wouldn't be out of line at all!!! How about ALL of us practicing the 'golden rule' and no you don't have to be 'religious' to do it! Just do to others as you would want them to do to you. Thank you for reading my 'off thread posting'!

GIVE*ME*A**********BREAK. I read this post...went away to think about it for awhile...came back and read it again. Yep, it really does say that.

From what I read on this board, MOST of the posts are specifically about carving issues, some may 'beat around the bush' a little, and SOME are certainly regarding the people BEHIND the names... has nothing to DO with being lonely...has more to do with being a caring human being, for which I will not apologize. It's very easy to skip over threads that don't interest you...I'm sure all of us have figured out how to do it.

Carving tips, carving encouragement, comraderie and friendship....they all seem to be part of this board. You can take what you want of it, and leave the rest behind.

Are the 'people' topics keeping anyone from learning, sharing carving issues, etc.? If they are, then we should look into that, I suppose.

Complaining about the threads you're not interested in, though - universally proclaiming that they are 'not wanted' - it seems to me, is EXACTLY 'how to ruin a wonderful web page'. Instead, perhaps you can just ignore those threads, or post something carving-related within them to nudge people back to the original topic.

There's no requirement to like everyone...or to like everything that they say. I, for one, though, suspect that Lorax is feeling pretty badly that someone would jump with both feet on our caring about her as a person in public. (sorry, Lorax, but yours is the latest 'health' topic we've been discussing)

Get over yourself. If you get sick or hurt while among this fine bunch of people, we might just care about you, too. I suspect you'll even like it.

Thank you for your input.

*We now return to our regularly scheduled programming*

Thanks for all the words of encouragment. I guess I should weigh in here. A couple of people had said they were praying for me, so I thought the only polite thing to do was let them know an update. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. As far as getting off subject, we've done that numerous times, and they have been som of the biggest strings. (wher are you from, what does you name mean). You see, this is my carving club. I dont go to local meetings and carve, but if I did i know we would not always talk about carving! It's what people do, they connect. If there was a 'Back Porch' page for general discussions I would have certainly posted it there. I am one of the top 15 posters on this site, I give as much advice as I know, ceratainly if nazi Germany were running this site, Muffy would be the moderator.
