Does anyone have any patterns for a rubber band gun? I would like to make a simple one but not the clothes pin type and it could be a single shot but I'm not sure how to make and install the trigger assembly. This is all I could find with a google search but could not find a cross section. I want to make it all out of wood including the trigger assembly (scroll saw plywood) Thanks Bill ^v^ Last edited by William; 07-09-2010 at 02:42 PM. |

Bill: Make a simple model out of cardboard (back of a tablet...) to get the shapes correct with proper clearances, then use as templates. I'm not sure that a plywood starwheel is going to have strong enough teeth to withstand the shock of hitting the trigger pawl as the first shot is made the wheel rotates... Please keep us informed of progress - I've been wrong before... ![]() Claude |

Very good thought Claude, I did not think of that!! I just came up with a design that would avoid the impact and have very little stress on the moving parts. I cut out some of the parts but not the wheel or trigger, I'll do that tomorrow while the glue is drying and post a picture of moving parts before the side is glued on. Thanks Claude Bill ^v^ |

Here is my new Magnum rubber band gun, it's a single shot but that's all I need. My humming bird feeder has really been busy this year for some reason and even though it does not have any yellow on it the wasp have been giving the birds a fit! The feeder is just outside the window about 3 feet away from me and I slide the window open and use a dowell with a knotch in it to shoot rubber bands at them but sometimes I miss and they come right back but if I can hit them with my new Magnum they will not be back!!! Sorry folks but I really like my Humming Birds and don't like wasp at all, those dag gum things even chase the birds!! |

Beautiful job William. Looks pretty darn lethal (to wasps anyhow).

I love my new gun and I think the birds like it too |

Hi Bill, Great idea! Thanks for sharing the "how to" on the gun, we love those "hummers" around here too. For the last couple nights the coon have found a way to get to one of my feeders and "sucked it dry", going out now to move it where they can't get to it, at least for a while, strong willed critters.
