Default Rosell Carvings

I have recently been gifted 2 Herman Rosell carvings of a woman dancing and a man playing an accordion. Date: 1937

Any interest by collectors?? Or any idea of value. Thanks,

Thumbs up Re: Rosell Carvings

Tim .. Harley Refsal covers Herman Rosell in his flat plane carving book's because he was considered one of the best at flat plane ..

He was born in 1893 and was a self taught swedish carver .. His style of carving was similar to Doderhultarns figures . but was more refined ... He participated in swedish exhibitions and at that time his figures were highly regarded as very popular ..

To figure value .. I would get a hold of the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis , Minn. as they have several of his figures on display there ..

Gene

Tim's last visit was in November of 2007, so I doubt he'll be back. Sorry.
