Default Root~Snake~

Yesterday finally finishing the ornaments, then going outside in my shop,I had this crazy root hanging on a nail in there.Id found it somewhere and when?? Heck I dont know.

Whittled skinning the bark off the root then carved the snakes head and fangs and rattlers on his tail. Then stainted it and later applied a gloss finish.

Could have carved some scales in it but Im not into snakes that much,I dont mind them long as I can see them first!!

Just something to do yesterday afternoon. Thought some of the carvers that carve roots might ck it out. Forrest

That's really awesome Forrest! That root really had a snake lurking in it. I'm with you , i don't mind them either as long as I can see them. Were i live now we don't have any poisonous snakes, mainly garter.A Few miles inland theres timber rattlers because it's alot hotter there than on the coast. Great job!!!

Sharon, here in East Tn,we have the eastern rattlers and copper heads. Did you know the sneaky copper head bites more people than rattlers in the whole USA.I read about that one time.

When I was a younger boy,I would walk through the woods to this large lake and I would chase the cotton mouths out into the water off the banks?? Cause I always heard, they wont bite you in water! YEAaaaaaaaaaaaa RIGHT,they will! In Memphis,we had cane breaker rattlers, copper heads and cotton mouths.

Thanks lady for stopping to view this and your neat comments on this carving. Forrest

Now that is really awsome, to find a snake or even that root. If ya don't want it I like snakes and would put it by my door in my shop, ready to attack.

Nice job, Forrest. Good imagination. That's how I would have done it.

BTW, I think I do know a few snakes walking around.
